What Is A Discriminative Stimulus?

A Discriminative Stimulus is a stimulus that produces different responses by correlating different consequences with distinctive cues. Basically, they work by telling us what behaviors will get reinforced or punished. In this way discriminative stimuli control our behavior and tell us what to do or how to act.
