What Is Hypertension?
Hypertension is the word used to describe high blood pressure. Unlike adults, there is not a generalized target blood pressure for children because it changes as children grow. However, children can develop high blood pressure for reasons similar to adults.
What Causes Hypertension?
Lifestyle choices such as poor diet, lack of exercise or being overweight can result in hypertension. Also of note, high blood pressure in young children is typically caused by other medical conditions or medication.
